Call for opens and IBIS related patent disclosures: - Mike: Have a meeting conflict for Sept 20 - We will skip that week (NOTE: This has since been corrected to Sep 27) AR Review: - James send presentation to Mike for posting - Done - Eckhard: The drafts should be numbered - Mike add descriptions to AMI checklist - Some changes made - Mike add QUAILs to Mantis - Nothing new - Bob conduct tests of parser behavior for test keywords - TBD AR: Mike number AMI presentation drafts from James New items: Mike showed the updated IBIS-AMI checklist: - The sections and items are now hierarchically numbered - Mike: What does Syntax mean here? - The IQ approach is that there is one syntax check: it must pass IBISCHK - Mike: What does the 1.6 check mean? - Greg: A regular IBIS buffer must be present - Mike: Does IBISCHK check .ami files referenced from .ibs files automatically - Bob: It will automatically check .ami files but not the other way - Mike: If [Algorithmic Model] is missing we would never know - Bob: This is like automatic checking of .pkg files - Greg: This was mentioned in Opal - Is there another way to have analog models? - Anders: Yes, any vendor could implement another scheme - Bob: There is an issue because this is not standardized - Mike: Is this only for TX? - Anders: The termination is often an s-param - Agree with Bob that there is an issue - Greg: Today you need IBIS because s-params are not supported without ISS - Anders: Have not seen an AMI model that uses only an IBIS model - Mike: It sounds like the EDA tool needs setup outside of IBIS - Anders: Yes - Greg: If an s-param TX model is used how is the rise time modeled? - Mike: Walter has talked about using an impulse input - The s-param would spread the signal over time - Bob: He proposed a triggered PWL source - There was discussion over what the input impedance should be - What is missing is precision in the IBIS-AMI spec Checklist item 1.7: - Bob: This is part of the jitter discussion - This may have been dropped - Greg: We could table this until it is more certain - Eckhard: IBIS page 186 has bit time for the Init function - The TX and the RX could want different sample rates - Greg: The DLL may have trouble if the sample rate is something unexpected - Mike: Is the input data time stamped? Checklist item 1.2: - Bob: Labels were an Opal extension, not IBIS - This should be deleted - Eckhard: IBIS page 140 says "one of the leaves can be Labels" - Bob: The Table BIRD clarifies that further - We should drop it for now - It will probably be in 5.1 - The parser developer got hung up on this - Mike: Should these checks be for 5.1 only? - We could come up with some rules for Labels - They just aren't in the 5.0 spec - We could check the number of items Next meetings: - Next meetings Sep 20 and Oct 4 Sep 20 agenda: - Continued IBIS-AMI checklist review Meeting ended at 12:20 Eastern Time.
